Two months prior to your baby coming home from the hospital, take time to paint the walls of your nursery. Visit the paint section of your hardware store and take home several samples of the paint chips that interest you. Select a range of very light to moderately colored lilacs.
Most people find that when a color is painted on the wall, it seems to dry darker than the chip indicates. Make a selection of one to three lilacs that interest you and get samples to try to paint on your walls. - Paint the walls of your nursery with the selected lilacs. View the colors in the morning light, in the afternoon and just at dusk. By viewing the color at the different times of day, you will get a better idea on how the paint will fit into the decor of your baby's nursery.

Consider painting the trim in the room a crisp white or creamy ivory. This will give a stunning contrast and will enable you to coordinate with the lilac accessories. You don't need to have all your accessories in the same color of lilac for the room to look coordinated. Rather, choose furniture in all white with bedding that is white with lilac accents.
Use white frames with lilac matting or prints with purple and lilac accents. Keep your rug neutral to tie in your walls and accessories. Keep curtains similarly light and neutral and maybe consider a lilac curtain tie-back. There are many pillows, throws and picture frames that could add a touch of lilac to coordinate with the other accessories.
