Components for Simple Scrapbooking

A simple scrapbook layout can be done with a minimum of materials. You will need page or layout paper that matches the size of your scrapbook album. An archival adhesive is important for applying photos and components to the page. Small pieces of paper or card stock are used for mats, title and journaling blocks on a layout. Simple scrapbooking can be done with a little creativity on any budget.

    Supplies

  1. Choose a scrapbook album for your simple scrapbook layouts. This will determine the size of paper you will need. All supplies should be acid- and lignin-free to protect our photos. Archival materials can be found in craft, art and scrapbooking stores. You need archival adhesives, stickers, photo and journal mats. While you can purchase specialty paper trimmers, a pair of regular scissors will work. There are kits with paper and embellishments available for scrapbooking layouts.

There are no hard-and-fast rules with simple scrapbooking. As long as you have photo-safe materials, you basically can do whatever you want. Use up to three photos on a simple scrapbook page. Choose photos that highlight an event or meaningful moment. While you might have hundreds of photos from which to choose, purge the ones that have poor focus or repeated poses. You can adhere the photos directly onto the scrapbook layouts or mount them onto pieces of paper or card stock.
  4. Embellishments

  5. A title can add flair to a simple scrapbook page. Titles can be made with stickers, computer fonts, die-cuts or hand-cut letters and adhered to the page or a title block. You also can write about the event or photo subjects on a journaling block. The journal block is a piece of plain paper or card stock cut into a square, rectangle, circle or die-cut shape to match the theme of the page. You can add a die-cut shape, stickers or paper-punched shapes to the layout page.
