Peroxide is a common product used for lightening mustaches. This is commonly done when a woman has a small mustache on her face. This can be embarrassing for women and hard to control. Instead of shaving or waxing the mustache, if it is small enough, a woman might choose to lighten it. By lightening it, it is harder to see and less embarrassing. Using peroxide is inexpensive and fairly easy.

Purchase a bottle of three percent peroxide. Peroxide is a common product used for lightening all types of hair. Three percent peroxide is safe to use on your body and can be used several different ways to lighten mustache hair. Six percent peroxide is also commonly used and is safe for facial hair. Peroxide is often rubbed into a person’s head hair to make it lighten.

Fill a spray bottle with peroxide. Spray the peroxide onto the mustache and rub it in. You should not dilute the peroxide. Let it sit on your face for 20 minutes before rinsing it off. Repeat as often as needed to lighten the hair. Use this method often to also help keep the hair lightened.

STake the spray bottle outside with you and periodically spray the peroxide onto the mustache hair while soaking up the sun's rays. The power of the sun helps the peroxide lighten the mustache hair. This method is also often used when lightening head hair. The heat and rays from the sun naturally lighten hair. Mixing peroxide into the equation helps increase the speed of the lightening.

Mix the peroxide with 10 drops of ammonia. Apply this mixture to your mustache hair and leave it on for 20 minutes or more. Rinse off thoroughly. Repeat this procedure every couple of days to help lighten the mustache and to keep it lightened.
