- Shaving chest hair is usually best for those who have small amounts of chest hair. It takes only a couple of days for stubble to show up again. If you have excessive chest hair, you can still shave it, although you will need to use scissors to trim your hair beforehand. To avoid irritated skin you should take extra precautions when shaving your chest, as it is a sensitive area. Use a new razor and shaving cream to ensure a clean shave. Shave against the growth of your hair in short strokes, rinsing your razor every couple of strokes.
- Hair removal cream is probably the most convenient method of hair removal for chest hair. It will be two to four weeks before any hair growth begins to appear. In addition, you can use hair removal cream on any amount of hair. It causes no discomfort unless you are allergic to the cream, which unfortunately many are. In these cases a rash may occur. If you have never used hair removal cream it's best to test a small area of your skin first. The cream is lathered directly over the hair to be removed. Allow the cream to sit for the allotted amount of time, then rinse it away with water, taking your hair away with it.
- Waxing can last anywhere from two to eight weeks. For this reason it is highly recommended, although it does cause moderate pain and temporary redness. The redness will last only for a couple hours at most. You can use an at-home wax kit, although it is better to go to a salon. The wax strips need to be pulled away from your skin in a particular way as to not tear skin. Using a salon, at least for your first wax, is a good idea so that you can see the process done correctly.
