Facial Peel Home Remedies
Store-bought facial peels contain glycolic acids; the most effective one is alpha hydroxy acid. Although these acids work extraordinarily well at removing dead skin and greasy oils, they can cause skin irritation such as redness and peeling. This is especially true for people with sensitive skin. One way to avoid these harsh chemicals is by creating an all-natural facial peel in your own kitchen. Does this Spark an idea?

Use natural ingredients to help nourish, moisturize and tighten skin. There are many ingredients that you can add to a facial peel that addresses these problems, but the two main elements are unflavored gelatin and green tea. The gelatin solidifies the facial peel, and the green tea helps to remove puffiness, redness and irritation from the skin.
To make a facial peel, begin by heating about two oz. green tea and one package of unflavored gelatin, stirring constantly. Puree a small, peeled cucumber--an astringent often used in spas and salons--and add only the juice to the gelatin-tea mix to tighten the skin, removing wrinkles. To moisturize your skin, add about an ounce of aloe vera gel. Chamomile is also a soothing agent that will help reduce skin irritation. Add a few drops of chamomile essential oil or about two ounces of chamomile tea. Once all the ingredients are mixed together, pour the facial peel into a glass bowl and let it sit in the refrigerator for about half an hour. Once it has thickened, apply it to your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes, then peel it off.
Papaya is also a good ingredient for facial peels. It contains an enzyme called papain that helps remove dead skin cells. Because this facial peel is rather powerful, it is important to add about three tablespoons of distilled water to the mixture to help dilute the peel. Take a small papaya and strain the juice, using a juicer or a conventional strainer. It is easiest to puree the papaya first if you are using a conventional strainer. Heat the juice with the distilled water and a package of gelatin. Feel free to add essential oils such as chamomile and lavender, which are both soothing agents.
Non-Organic Disadvantages

The Food and Drug Administration monitors and removes potentially hazardous chemicals and substances from foods and medicines. However, skin care isn't always their top priority. Thus, irritating and harmful chemicals such as mercury, alcohol, ammonium laureth sulfate, dioxane and polyethylene glycol are added into with skin creams, acne medications and makeup. The skin absorbs these chemicals, which can cause damage to the body. Organic facial peels and masks that do not contain any of these chemicals are available at stores, but they can be expensive. Creating your own facial peel allows you to work with fresh ingredients every time and can also be a money saver. Making your own organic skin care products also helps promote green living.
