Colors

When you want elegant wedding decorations, the first thing you want to think about are your colors. Deep, dark and rich colors paired with white portray a more dramatic, elegant theme. Black and white are the ultimate elegant colors, but you can also use white and a deep red, white and a dark green or white and a rich chocolate brown.

To incorporate your color scheme into your elegant wedding decorations, think about using white chairs adorned with your color in a ribbon tied to the backs of the chairs. Use a white table cloth and add contrast with a strip of your color fabric as the table runner. Make use of ribbon by tying your color of ribbon to vases, candle holders or other centerpieces that you use.

Nothing speaks of elegance as much as candle light. A very elegant idea is to use long tables for your guest. Cover them with white table cloths and use your dark contrasting table runner. Believe it or not, favors can do wonders for your elegant wedding decorations when they double as decorations. Choose small crystal candle holders as your favors and place them on your tables as part of the decorations. You can also give away wine stoppers as favors. Purchase them in crystal and place them on the mirrors in the center of your tables in between the candles. The candle light with shimmer off of the crystal for a romantic, elegant effect. Just make sure your guests know that the favors are for them to take home and not just for decoration.

Lighting

Every aspect of your reception must be incorporated into you elegant wedding decorations. To make for a more elegant setting, dim the lights and hang lighted luminaries from the ceiling to create a more dramatic effect. Clear Christmas lights can also add a special touch. Wrap them around any poles at your reception, or drape them from your tables and lay tulle over them to create a muted look.
