With its mix of ancient culture and modern attractions, Hong Kong is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Asia. More than 29 million people from around the world visit Hong Kong each year, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Commission. Knowing the travel requirements before you go will make your trip much smoother. Following are the requirements for Australian visitors to Hong Kong.

    Entry Requirements

  1. For entry into Hong Kong, you must have a passport that is valid for at least six months following your trip and also have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay. If you hold an Australian passport and are traveling to Hong Kong as a tourist, no visa is required for trips up to 90 days. You will need a visa if you plan to stay more than 90 days or are going to study, work or live in Hong Kong.
  2. Obtaining a Visa

  3. To obtain a visa, you must submit Application for Entry forms 1003A and1003 B. You can download these forms from the Hong Kong Immigration Department at immd.gov. Completed forms may be mailed to:

    Immigration Department

They may also be submitted through a Chinese consulate or diplomatic mission near you. Do not submit your application by email; it will not be accepted.

  5. No immunizations are required for entry into Hong Kong, but the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that you have all of your routine vaccines up to date and also have a hepatitis a immunization. Routine vaccines include chickenpox; polio; measles, mumps and rubella; diphtheria; and tetanus.
