It always seems that acne appears just before you need to look your best. Whether it’s the start of school or a big date, there always seems to be a pimple on your forehead that is standing between you and a flawless appearance. With a few quick home remedies, you can clear up that zit in about two days, just in time for your big event.
Aspirin has a form of salicylic acid in it that fights acne, draws the oil out of your skin and gets rid of zits quickly. Make aspirin into a mask by crushing five to 10 pills into powder and transforming them into a paste with a little water. Apply the mask to your face and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse the mask off, and moisturize your face with a good moisturizer formulated for your skin type. If you have sensitive skin and feel that the mask is stinging, wash it off right away.
Toothpaste makes a great drying spot treatment for minor blemishes. Many toothpastes also contain zinc, which decreases inflammation. Stick with non-flouride toothpaste (not gel). Aquafresh is a good one that does not over-dry your skin too much. Some people who have tried Crest say it burns the skin. Apply a dab to the spot, and let it dry. Leave on for about 20 minutes, and then wash off. Never leave toothpaste on overnight, as it can burn your skin.
Baking soda is a great natural exfoliator. Using it regularly two to three times per week helps to gently remove the top layer of skin, preventing pores from clogging and carrying away bacteria, oil, dirt etc... To get the maximum benefit from baking soda, add a teaspoon to your facial cleanser, mix well and massage into your skin. If your face seems red or irritated, you should decrease the amount of baking soda in your cleanser.
