- Plan something original like going to an aquarium, going on a hayride, to a drive-in movie or visiting a historical landmark. Take your date to an art gallery, to see your favorite band perform, or better, her favorite band. Wear something memorable like maybe a humorous or enticing T-shirt, a unique cologne or perfume. Hot date night is not business as usual. Hold nothing back and don't censor your creativity.
- If you have a special talent, be it dancing, a sport, playing a musical instrument, singing, or anything you know you can shine at set yourself up in the position to put those talents on display. A bar or club where you have a special relationship with the staff can be better than the most extravagant nightspot, because it will allow your date the chance to see you as you are among your piers. If you don't go to bars or clubs a lot, don't rule out meeting your date somewhere you hang out on a daily basis. Maintain home-court advantage.
- Set the scene for a good kiss. Even if it's not your first kiss with this person, you should think about the location of the date as if trying to set the scene for the perfect moment to share kiss. There is no guarantee the moment will be right in an aquarium or in the park on a moonlit night, but you have a better chance there than in a landfill. Don't just choose a location and leave it to chance. Scope the area out before you take your date there. Attention to detail is an admirable and attractive trait and it only spawns regret when it's not practiced.
- Have gum, a lighter, your phone charged, an umbrella, a backup location on mind in case your first date location falls through and a spare tire and jack in case you get a flat. If you are going to a restaurant, make reservations well in advance. If you are going to a club, go online and checkout their website--many nightclubs have sign-up forms on their web pages that allow people to get on their VIP list for quick entry. If you plan to drink, plan not to drive and call a cab in advance to pick you up at a certain time. If the night goes well, your date will have no problem driving you to get your car in the morning (wink wink).
