Breakfast Party Ideas

Save

Dinner parties are a common get-together for adults. They are a fun and convenient way for friends to get together without having to go out and spend a lot of money. An alternative to dinner parties are breakfast parties, for those who want to start something different and unique. Breakfast can be the best meal of the day.

Planning

  • The best time for a breakfast party is a Saturday or a Sunday morning. The party can be late morning, set as brunch. Breakfast dishes can be cereal, oatmeal, pancakes, French toast, omelets, casseroles or bacon. Dishes are sweet or salty. Drinks are varied, too: coffee, champagne, mixed drinks and juices.

Invitations are unnecessary unless it is an elaborate affair. A good time to start is at a leisurely hour, one that is before everyone gets incredibly hungry but late enough so that guests don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn.

Food

  • A range of food is a good bet. Fruit goes nicely with any other dish. The cook should choose between a dish like pancakes, waffles or French toast and omelets, toast, hash browns and eggs. A buffet allows guests to choose what they would like to eat and how much of it. Muffins, scones and biscotti complement coffee and tea well.

Another idea is asking every guest to bring their own special dish, whether it be a pie, a main dish or something unique. People like to share their talents. If the guests include those who are not cooks, then they can bring a drink or a centerpiece for the table. Everyone loves breakfast.

Decor and Activities

  • A breakfast party theme adds to the fun of the morning. A casual dress code is perfect for the summertime. A springtime brunch calls for sundresses and khakis. A winter party involves warm sweaters and scarves. Inviting tablecloths and pretty dishes will be welcoming to all guests.

A game of cards or croquet (depending on the season) will entertain guests while the host makes breakfast. A good table game can be something such as a stack of questions, which stimulates discussion.
