- A Valentine's Day staple is the conversation heart candies with sweet messages and an even sweeter taste. A different take on the traditional conversation heart candy is to make a conversation heart cookie. Start by making a batch of sugar cookie dough. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter on the dough. Then frost each, varying between pink, blue, white, green, and yellow. Using red decorating gel, write messages commonly found on conversation hearts in capital letters, such as "BE MINE," "MY LOVE," and "LOVE YOU." If you really want to be authentic, you can round the bottom of the heart a little to make it look more like the candy. You also can separate the dough when you are mixing it and add a few drops of food coloring to make the whole cookie colored.

A cookie lollipop is always a hit because it's a fun way to eat a traditional cookie. In addition to the cookie ingredients, all you need are lollipop sticks or Popsicle sticks, both of which you can buy at a craft store like Michael's. You also can use wooden skewers. Before you make the cookies, soak the lollipop stick, Popsicle stick or skewer in water for a few hours. This will prevent them from burning while the cookies are baking. Start out by making a classic sugar cookie, then roll the dough out to about 1/8 of an inch thick. To keep the dough from sticking to the rolling pin, place a piece of wax paper on top as you roll. Then, using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut the dough into an equal number of hearts. Lay one heart flat, then gently press the wooden stick you are using into the bottom half of the heart. Lay another heart over the stick, aligning the two hearts. Press them firmly together. Lay the lollipops on a baking sheet and bake according to the cookie instructions. Decorate the cookies as desired once they are cooled.
You can use and assortment of cookie lollipops to make a cookie bouquet by placing them in a vase. You can fill the bottom of the vase with Hershey kisses to keep the lollipops from moving around. Your beloved is sure to enjoy this creative Valentine's Day treat. - Hidden Hugs cookies are a cute way to make Valentine's cookies because they have a little hidden surprise in the middle of an already delicious sugar cookie. Buy a bag of Hershey's brand Hugs candies and unwrap each candy. You also can use Hershey's Kisses or another similar type of candy. Mix a batch of sugar cookie dough. Measure out a tablespoon of dough and gently mold it around each Hug candy so it is completely covered, then place it on an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake the cookies according to the recipe instructions, and when they have cooled, roll them in additional powdered sugar.
