Designing birthday party centerpieces allows the creator to showcase their design talents. Create centerpieces that are colorful and catch guests' attention. Use household items and purchase inexpensive accessories to complete the design. Consider versatile centerpieces that can be used for a child's birthday or an adult celebration. Incorporating a snack into the centerpiece provides guests with something to nibble on as an appetizer or dessert.

    Candy Centerpieces

  1. Prepare candy centerpieces for birthday parties. These centerpieces are versatile to use at a child's birthday party or an adult celebration. Use small flowerpots, lined with foil. Consider decorating the flowerpots with happy birthday and brightly colored paint designs or stickers. Choose some of the guest of honor's favorite candies, such as jelly beans, candy hearts with messages on them, or cinnamon hearts to fills the pots. Purchase various sizes of lollipops to place in the pots of candy. Try one or two large lollipops in the center with small lollipops lining the edge. These centerpieces add bright colors to a birthday celebration.
  2. Flower Pots

  3. Create bright flowerpot designs. Purchase mix-and-match socks of different colors and patterns. Gather glass jars or small terra-cotta pots from around the house to use as containers. Don't worry about the containers matching since they will be covered. Slip the socks over the containers and tuck the sock opening into the top of the container. Cut off the sock bottoms so the container sits flatly on the table. Place white daisies or herbs into the containers and set one on each table.
  4. Terra-Cotta Cakes

  5. Use terra-cotta pots to create birthday cake or cupcake centerpieces. Purchase azalea and cylinder pots to paint and stack as a birthday cake. Paint the the two pots a bright color, such as yellow. Allow the pots to dry and stack like a birthday cake. Hot-glue buttons and jewels to the pots to simulate sprinkles or candies. Consider hot-gluing the two pots in place as a way to temporarily secure them and avoid tipping. Place ribbon around the edges to act as a trim or consider outlining with jewels. Place crayons in top hole to represent candles. Use double-stick tape to hold them in place. Consider placing candy or toys under the birthday cakes for activities at the table. For birthday cupcakes, use the three-inch terra-cotta pots painted to look like cupcake wrappers. Use the saucer for the cupcake top and place small candies in the pots as treats for party guests.
