In the Christian faith, Easter celebrates the resurrection of Jesus, which is central to the faith. To children, Easter means a visit from the Easter Bunny, who will leave them a basket filled with sweet treats. You can help your little one get excited about Easter by helping her to create her own Easter basket craft. Each of these activities can be done by a child with an adult's assistance.

    Bunny Basket

  1. Staple the opening of a cardboard milk carton closed. Cut off one side of the carton with a craft knife. Glue pink construction paper to the remaining sides of the carton as well as to the top. Punch or drill a hole in the center of the top ridge of the milk carton.

Lay the milk carton down so that the open side of the carton faces up. Cut a pink pipe cleaner in half and then insert the two halves through the hole in the ridge to create whiskers. Glue one large craft eye on each side of the top of the milk carton. You should now have a bunny face followed by a bunny body that is open at the top.

Cut bunny ears from construction paper and glue them to the inside of the carton right behind the bunny's face. Take the side of the carton that you cut off and trim it down to a 1-inch-wide strip. Cover it with construction paper and then staple one end to each side of the opening of the basket to create a handle.
  2. Lamb Basket

  3. Cut a cardboard milk carton in half. Paint a foam egg white. Glue cotton balls to cover the bottom half of the milk carton. Cut a 1-inch-wide strip of craft foam and glue the ends to opposing sides of the cotton ball-covered milk carton to create a handle.

Hold the plastic foam egg upside down and glue cotton balls onto the bottom, creating the wool on top of the lamb's head. Glue two small craft eyes to the front of the plastic foam egg. Cut ears out of white craft foam for the lamb's ears. Tie a small bow for the top of the lamb's head and attach the ears and bow with glue. Attach the lamb's head to one side of the basket, near the top.
  4. Coffee Can Easter Basket

  5. Wash an old coffee can thoroughly with warm water and soap. Cover the can with a strip of construction paper. Decorate the can with stickers, crayons, plastic gems, feathers or any other embellishments.

Cover the inside of the can with felt using glue. Cut a length of thin rope and use hot glue to attach the ends to each side within the coffee can to create a handle for the basket.
