Scooby Doo is a dog who is a mystery sleuth along with his human friends. Plan a Scooby Doo birthday party around a mystery based on the Scooby Doo cartoons and movies. Watch some of the shows to understand the crazy antics of Scooby Doo and bring the whole party theme together.

    Scooby Doo Party Decorations

  1. Scooby Doo cartoons and movies follow a retro color scheme. The retro look is inspired from the 1970s, so decorate the party with bright colors, large flowers and colored lights. Spooky characters like ghosts and goblins make a nice accent, along with pictures of the Scooby Doo gang.

Decorate a wall with a giant picture of the Mystery Machine. Make an interior of the Mystery Machine with shag carpeting and a bench seat like you would find in a van. Set this up as a picture-taking area.
  2. Scooby Doo Party Games

  3. A Scooby Snack treasure search is a game for all ages. For younger children, hide dog biscuits with codes on them. The prizes the children win are based on the code on the bone. Older children can do a treasure-clue hunt. The first clue leads them to a dog bone with another clue attached. The final clue leads them to a treasure chest or the ghost they are trying to track down.

A mummy relay has the children divide into two teams. Each team must turn one member into a mummy, using a roll of toilet paper. The fastest team wins. If there is a large number of guests, divide them into more than two teams.

A Scooby Snack biscuit drop requires a glass jar, dog biscuits and a step stool or chair. Have each child stand up on the stool or chair and drop the biscuits into the jar. The smaller the biscuits are, the more difficult the game. The guest with the most biscuits in the jar wins.

Older children will enjoy making a tie dyed t-shirt to fit in with the retro theme. Have each guest bring his own plain white T-shirt for the craft.
  4. Scooby Doo Party Food

  5. A Scooby Doo-themed cake can be made as a basic cake with Scooby Doo plastic characters on and around the cake. Add dog bone-shaped cookies for accent. For added creativity, shape the cake as a dog bone.

Dog bone-shaped cookies can also a separate food or dessert item. Frost the cookies with bright colors, or make gingerbread or spice cookies look like dog biscuits.

To keep with a dog-bone theme, cut sandwiches and finger Jell-O with dog-bone shaped cookie cutters.

Hot dogs are an obvious choice for a Scooby Doo-themed birthday party, but Scooby Doo eats anything. Hamburgers or pizza are also good options.
