Whether you are celebrating Valentine's Day, an engagement, wedding, birthday or anniversary, featuring a beautiful, love-inspired centerpiece on your table will add an air of romance and thoughtfulness to the occasion. Creating your own centerpiece can be a simple process that won't take more than a few minutes to assemble once the materials are gathered.

    Floating Centerpiece

  1. Floating centerpieces are a romantic touch for dinners for two. All you need is a clear bowl, a mirror, tea candles or floating candles and small sprigs of wide flowers such as baby's breath, carnations, daisies or mums. Lay the mirror in the center of the table. Fill the bowl with water and center it on top of the mirror. Cut the stems off of the flowers and gently lower them into the water. Between each of the flowers add a candle. When the candles are lit they will shine off the water and mirror, creating a nice glow around the table.
  2. Through Time Centerpiece

  3. Gather together a dozen red roses, a vase, three plastic floral card holder picks (you can usually get these for free from the florist when buying flowers) and three pictures of you and your love during special times in your relationship. Fill the vase two-thirds of the way full with water and add the roses. Make sure that the roses just barely peek out from the top of the vase. If they are too long trim the stems with a sharp knife. Put each picture on a plastic floral card holder and put one on the right side of the arrangement, one in the center and one on the left side. It is a simple, but effectively heartwarming centerpiece that can work for lovers, friends or family.
  4. Love Hill

  5. To make Love Hill, buy a round, oasis floral foam form, flowers, a shallow container like a plate and flowers. Cut the foam form in half; soak one piece in water, and then place it on the shallow container flat-side down. Cut the flower stems to 1-inch long and cover the foam form with flowers by pressing the stems into the foam. Once done, set an item that represents your relationship with that person on top of your hill. It could be the topper from your wedding cake, a shell from your honeymoon or a matchbook from your first date, for example.
