Gag gifts are a great way to lift the spirits of a depressed friend, get a chuckle out of someone who's bemoaning another birthday or brighten any day of the week. There's no need to go to a specialty store or online shop to get gag gifts. You can make them easily with items that can be purchased at most department stores.

    The Gag Book

  1. One of the easiest gag gifts that you can make is the blank book gag. Simply purchase a hard backed journal and some sticker letters. Sticker letters can be found in the stationery area or with scrapbooking supplies. On the cover of the book, make a fictional title that relates to the receiver's predicament. Some examples are, "Sex After 40," "Life After 50," "Romance After Childbirth" or "The Boss's Sex Life." Of course, when the recipienct opens the book to read the advice, the book will be blank.
  2. Gag Tackle Box

  3. A gag tackle box may be your answer if your victim is a fisherman. Buy bags of Swedish Fish candy and gummy worms. Then, purchase a tackle box and a card. Fill the tackle box with the Swedish Fish and gummy worms. Write on the inside of the card, "Inside this tackle box is tackle befitting your skill as a fisherman. When the fisherman opens the box, he'll understand the card: fake tackle for fake skills.
  4. Empty Box Gag

  5. This gift works for retirement parties and going away gifts. Purchase a gift box and a gift card. Attach the card to the box. Write on the card, "This gift represents how much you mean to us." Give the box to the target.
  6. Surprise Box Gag

  7. The opposite of the empty box gag is the surprise box gag. Purchase an item you know the person wants a lot. Take it out of its box and put it into a cereal box, tampon box or some other common, yet equally disappointing box. When the person opens the box they will get a wonderful surprise.
