Designing a Bedroom Wall

If you want to improve the look of your bedroom, an easy way to do this is to create one beautifully decorated wall as a focal point. By adding a few extra splashes of color, your bedroom will take on a new personality. This can be done easily by using paint, wallpaper and border or drawing a mural on the wall that lends a personal touch.

    Painting

  1. Painting a wall in your bedroom can instantly brighten or darken the room to your preference. With the broad choice of paint colors available you can be as creative as you want with paint. You can paint the wall in one color or even divide the wall with trim and paint it two totally different colors or shades. You may want to choose a color that matches the rest of your bedroom decor or a color that doesn't match anything else in the room. This all depends on how much you want the new wall to stand out when you walk into the room.
  2. Wallpaper and Border

  3. Adding wallpaper or a border to a wall also will give your bedroom a whole new look. If your walls are already painted or paneled, having one wall with a fresh wallpaper covering can create instant interest. Adding a light floral-patterned wallpaper to one wall in a bedroom that has dark-colored walls will brighten a room that had been dull and dim. If your walls are painted in a light neutral shade, you can have equally dramatic results by putting up a darker floral or stripe pattern of wallpaper.

Adding a strip of border to the top or middle of one wall is a quick, easy way to add color to your wall without making any drastic changes to the room. Choosing a border with coordinating colors to match the rest of your room will tie all your colors together.
  4. Murals

  5. Designing your own mural can add a touch of pizazz to any bedroom wall. This is particularly nice for the bedrooms of young children or teenagers. If your child has a favorite cartoon character, fill one wall up with animated drawings and paint it accordingly. If your teenager is an avid fan of sports or music, dedicate one wall to a mural highlighting those subjects. For your own bedroom, creating a mural of beautiful scenery, such as beaches or mountains, can make being in your bedroom feel and look like you are on a grand vacation.
