Side Braid on Straight Hair

Side braids are very popular right now. Lauren Conrad from "The Hills" inspires many girls, so this look will be stylish for high school or middle-school-age girls. Use a flat iron on freshly washed and conditioned hair. A heat protectant should be used to protect hair from heat damage. The flat iron shouldn't be on too hot of a setting, as the braid is more likely to stay tight with slightly wavy or coarse hair. Once your hair is reasonably straight, make a side part on your most favorable side. Make a tight French braid along either side of the part. The braid can be as long as your hair length or only braided for a few inches. Once the braid is finished, secure with a clip. This style is decent for school dances as well.
Wavy Pin-Back Style

Wavy hair can look nice too. On days when you're late to school, the last thing your want to worry about is your hair. If you wake up and only have five minutes to spare, this style will work for you. Take your curly hair, part it down the middle and pin back a front section of hair on each side. Pin back the hair toward the crown of the head. This style will look best if you use a flowery clip to pin the hair back. If your hair is straight, mist a texturizer spray on damp hair to create a bit of a wave and style as previously directed.

This is a modified version of the wavy-pin back style. This style is great for sports or taking tests if you want your hair out of your face, or if you're running late. Pin back the hair as you would for the wavy-pin back style, and then gather into a ponytail, finish with hairspray and ribbon if you like.
