The idea of a pedicure is to beautify and care for feet. It is a process that incorporates soaking the feet, exfoliating dead skin, then trimming and painting toe nails. Pedicures help prevent nail diseases and disorders. You can perform pedicures at home or visit a professional.

    Pedicure recipes

  1. Basic home pedicure recipes don't usually require many ingredients. The mixtures are fairly simple to make.

Basic foot soak: Fill a big bowl (large enough for your feet) with warm water. Add bath salts and ¼ cup milk to the water. Let your feet soak for 10 minutes. The lactic acid in milk helps to loosen dead skin

Almond foot soak: Heat one gallon milk; add 1 drop almond extract and ½ cup water to the milk.

Foot paste: Combine ½ cup baby oil with ½ cup coarse sea salt

Soak feet in the foot soak for at least 10 minutes, then scrub feet and lower legs with paste

Lemon olive oil recipe: Juice a fresh-cut lemon; be sure to keep the rinds. Add lemon juice, lemon rinds and 1 tbsp. olive oil to a bowl filled with warm water, then soak feet for 15 minutes.

Grapefruit foot soak: Mix one gallon heated grapefruit juice, a shot of vodka, and one grapefruit cut into slices. Soak feet for a few minutes, then remove. Dip half a lime into ½ cup sugar. Rub it over feet to exfoliate dead skin. Repeat with the other half of the lime, and then soak feet in the grapefruit juice mixture.

Milk and honey pedicure: Fill a bowl with warm water, add 2 tsp. honey and 2 tbsp. sugar. Mix in 1 cup milk and a drop of almond oil. Soak feet for 15 minutes

Buttermilk soak: Buttermilk mildly exfoliates and conditions skin on feet. Add ½ cup buttermilk to ½ cup warm water and mix in 1 tsp. almond oil. Whisk ingredients with a fork and soak feet 10 to 15 minutes

Cucumber recipe: Peel and slice a cucumber. Fill a bowl ( large enough for feet ) with water. Add cucumber and juice of half a lemon to water. Cut other half of lemon into wedges and add to water. Soak feet for 10 minutes. The cucumber and lemon help whiten yellow toe nails.
