Birthday Ideas With Tinkerbell

A Tinkerbell touch can add a magic flair to any birthday party. For a thoroughly themed party, customize the decorations, food, and activities to center around the popular pixie. Details can range from easy to elaborate, depending on the time, budget and age group of the children.

    Decorations

  1. Themed decor, including invitations, napkins, tablecloths and more, can be purchased at party stores. For budget party planners, however, there are simple, affordable alternatives.

A Tinkerbell party should incorporate plenty of light green and yellow, Tinkerbell's favorite colors. Paper plates, plastic cups, balloons and tablecloths should be in these colors. Consider sprinkling yellow and green glitter and confetti around the tablecloth for "fairy dust."

Decorate surrounding walls with star shapes, wands and Tinkerbell posters or cutouts.
  2. Food

  3. Of course, the food should culminate in a Tinkerbell-themed cake. Artistic bakers may want to create a large cake with an actual frosted Tinkerbell on top. For a simple cake, however, bake cupcakes and frost them with either light green or yellow frosting. Sprinkle "fairy dust" over the cupcakes using colored sugar or sprinkles in the alternate color.

Before serving the cake, small foods and snacks such chocolate-covered pretzel wands, star-shaped foods and treats, and "magical" foods that have been turned unusual colors with food coloring. "Magical" pizza, for example, could have green dough topped with star-shaped pepperoni and a "fairy dust" of seasonings.

There are many lemon- and lime-flavored items that can be incorporated into the yellow and green color scheme. These include Popsicles, beverages and ice cream.
  4. Activities

  5. Many magical games can be played at a Tinkerbell party. These include common party games with a Tinkerbell twist, such as "Tinkerbell tag," "Pin the Star on the Wand," "Magical Balloon Pop" and "Tinkerbell's Telephone."

"Pass the Wand" is a popular, easily customized game. Have the children sit in a circle and pass a homemade "wand" from child to child while music plays. When the music stops, the person holding the wand is disqualified from the next round, but is allowed to keep the wand. The game continues until only one child is left. In the end, every child should have a wand, and the last child remaining can be given an additional prize.

For prizes or party favors, visit a dollar store or party store. Tinkerbell stickers, toys, and coloring books are appropriate. Magical "wands," glitter, candies and other pixie products can be used also.
