Outfit Ideas for a Jungle Dance

Save

Having a jungle-theme dance is a great way to bring out the wild side of all of the attendees. Besides the decorations, good food and music, each person should come dressed in a jungle theme. If you're invited to a jungle dance, grab some things that you could have around the house or that could be found at a thrift store to create the perfect jungle dance outfit.

Tarzan and Jane

  • If you're going to the dance with a date, see if you can convince her to dress up with you as Tarzan and Jane. Head to the fabric store and find some wild leopard print fabric that can be cut and ripped into a ragged loincloth for Tarzan. Ask someone who is handy with a sewing machine to do it, or use safety pins to hold it up. For Jane, you could just wear a very fancy, old-fashioned dress and carry a parasol. Check thrift stores for items like old prom dresses or a pair of white gloves, like a refined Jane would wear.

Animal Oufit

  • If you want to come to the jungle dance dressed as your favorite jungle animal, then you're in luck. Thrift stores and costume stores in the off season probably have plenty of cast-off Halloween costumes to choose from. If you're lucky, you could find a gorilla costume, complete with mask. Or you could dress as a panther, in tight black clothing with black ears cut out of card stock, and lots of black eye makeup with a painted nose. Or you could dress as an exotic bird with feathers in your hair. You can find plenty of materials to make your animal outfit authentic.

Safari Outfit

  • If you want to attend the jungle dance without being too ostentatious in a full gorilla suit, you could come as a safari enthusiast. You probably have a pair of khakis already, so all you need to add is a white linen or khaki-colored shirt, topped with a safari hat that could be found at any retailer. Don't forget the canteen and set of binoculars to hang around your neck.
