Mickey Mouse Costume Idea

Mickey Mouse is one of the most famous cartoon characters in the entire world. As such, Mickey Mouse costumes can be lots of fun since everybody will recognize your costume. Luckily, making your own Mickey Mouse costume is as easy as it gets so you can get a great costume with minimal effort.

    1. Makeup

      • Use black liquid eyeliner to paint a small circle on the tip of your nose and to paint a widow's peak (or upside-down triangle) on your forehead, making sure that it blends into the hairline. Keep in mind that Mickey Mouse does not have whiskers. To keep the makeup from smudging, cover it with hairspray.

      Clothes

      • To make the illusion of black fur, wear black leggings and a tight, black, long-sleeved t-shirt. Wear knee-length red shorts. Sew two large, white buttons on the front of the shorts. If you do not have buttons, you may sew two large circles of white felt onto the front of the shorts.

      Accessories

      • Wear plain yellow shoes and white gloves. If you cannot find yellow shoes, spray paint some sneakers yellow. For the ears, either wear an ear hat from a Disney park or make your own ears by gluing black circles of construction paper onto a black headband.

      Formal Mickey

      • To dress up as Mickey in his formal attire, you need to change a couple of things. Instead of wearing red shorts, wear red pants with two white buttons on the front. Instead of wearing a black shirt, wear a white button-up shirt and a black suit coat. The makeup and accessories stay the same, with the addition of a yellow bow tie.

      Sorcerer Mickey

      • To dress as Sorcerer Mickey (made famous from his scene in "Fantasia"), wear a red bathrobe over black leggings and a tight, black, long-sleeved t-shirt. Tie the bathrobe with a yellow rope. The makeup and accessories stay the same, with the addition of the blue sorcerer's hat. To make this hat, roll up a piece of blue construction paper into a cone shape. Cut out yellow or white stars and moons from construction paper and glue them on the hat. Glue some ribbon to the bottom of the hat to be able to secure it under your chin.

      Casual Mickey

      • During the 1980s, Mickey went through a phase in which he appeared in a red t-shirt and blue shorts (rather than his traditional outfit). If you want to go for a more retro (and more unique) look, keep the makeup and accessories the same. All you need to do is substitute the red shorts for blue shorts and add a red t-shirt over the black long-sleeved shirt.
