Remedies for Puffy Face


Waking up with a puffy face in the morning is quite common, and there are several ways to remedy the situation. Thankfully, the puffiness will soon dissipate once you take a plan of action and stick to that plan. A continuous puffy look to your face could mean there is an underlying health problem that needs to be addressed and a doctor's office visit may be necessary.

Drink Water

Often, you wake up with a puffy face because you are dehydrated. The puffiness stems from your body hanging onto its water resources. To remedy this and eliminate the puffiness in your face, drink water. Ensure you are hydrated at all times and you will find the puffiness in your face is no longer present.

Vitamin Deficiency

Vitamin C deficiency may also cause facial puffiness. To remedy this, consume two large slices of watermelon to supply your body with the Vitamin C it lacks. Daily vitamins may help nourish your body, however, so make sure to eat a balanced diet every day.

A diet high in fat may also cause facial puffiness. To remedy the situation, eat plenty of fruits and vegetables--drink V8 juice if you are pressed for time

Get exercise. Exercise helps your heart pump blood. A good blood supply ensures tissues get the nutrients and fluids they need to stay in peak condition.

Ice-Cold Water

For prompt relief of a puffy face without the wait, splash your face with ice-cold water for a minute or two. This action reduces puffiness quickly and effectively. The cold water treatment works the same way as it would with a sprained ankle or swollen feet, reducing tissue inflammation with the ice.

Limit your sodium intake to a bare minimum to prevent fluid build up in the tissues which gets trapped there until you drink more or lie down in bed. Salt substitutes are tasty and better for your heart.
