- For Halloween, paint a mini terra cotta pot brown or black to make a spider. Cut brown or black pipe cleaners in half. Glue four on each side for legs. Glue googly eyes on the front of the pot. Use pipe cleaners to accent jack-o-lanterns as well. For Christmas themed crafts, twist red, white or green pipe cleaners together and bend to make a simple candy cane shape. You can also use white pipe cleaners and silver glitter for snowflakes. These make good ornaments. For the 4th of July, dip pipe cleaners in glue and cover in glitter. Twist together for fireworks.
- Color coffee filters or paper towels with washable markers. Spray with water. Allow to dry. Use pipe cleaners to gather the middle and twist antennae to make a butterfly. Use bright colored markers to decorate the butterfly's wings. To make a bee, color a coffee filter yellow and black. Gather in the middle and twist like the butterfly. Take two more pipe cleaners and twist around to make wings. For an ant, cut an egg carton, about two or three bumps long. Cut small legs and glue them to the underside. Paint the carton red, black or brown. Use pipe cleaners for antennae. You can also make a spider this way, but use eight legs instead of six.
- To make funky glasses, take two pipe cleaners and make each into a circle. Add a small pipe cleaner to bridge the two circles together. Add a pipe cleaner on each side for the arms of the glasses. Twist into place. Twist more pipe cleaners into designs and add them to the glasses for added embellishment. To make a bouquet of flowers, twist pipe cleaners into a flower design. Glue a felt center or make one out of pipe cleaners, then add a stem.
