Masks to Get Rid of Acne Fast

Our skin gets exposed pollution, oil, dirt and makeup every day, leaving pores clogged and prone to breakouts. Acne is caused when pores become blocked with oil, in combination with those factors and dead skin cells. Aside from being sure to cleanse the face daily to remove oil buildup and dead skin cells, acne masks may be made at home with simple ingredients. It is important to remember to wash the face in moderation, because too much cleansing may strip away important oils, causing irritation and dryness.

    1. Baking Soda

      • For fast treatment of acne, use masks one or two times a week to keep pores clean and reduce inflammation. One popular homemade acne mask is with baking soda and water. Baking soda is ideal to use for the treatment of acne because it is gentle enough for daily use while exfoliating the dead skin cells that promote acne. Those with sensitive skin should only use this mask and any other acne treatments once a week to reduce any potential irritation.

To create a mask, mix about four tablespoons with enough water to create a paste-like consistency. Apply to the face in a circular motion, especially around the nose, forehead and chin (also known as the T-Zone), where acne is more likely to occur. Allow the mask to sit for about five minutes to ensure that it is cleansing pores and exfoliating dead skin cells from the top layer of the epidermis. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.

      Eggs

      • Eggs are an ideal ingredient to use for a variety of skin issues, especially anti-aging and acne. Egg whites contain protein that helps rebuild and heal skin, especially when scarring from acne has occurred. The protein is also helpful in removing excess oil, which causes breakouts when combined with dead skin cells and clogged pores.

To remove blackheads, whiteheads and reduce the appearance of acne scars, create a mask using two egg whites; beat them gently before applying to the face. After application, allow to dry for about 20 minutes and then rinse off with cool water and pat the skin dry.

Egg yolks are also a good acne mask treatment since the yolks contain vitamin A, which also helps reduce the appearance of scars. Use the same method as with egg whites, leave on for about 20 minutes, rinse and then dry.

      Oatmeal

      • Oatmeal works to absorb the excess oil that is causing breakouts and to exfoliate away dead skin cells.

Grind up about one cup of oatmeal so that it becomes a fine powder to create an acne mask. Cook it with 1/2 cup of water according to directions, and allow it to cool once it's done. Add a tablespoon of honey to give the mask some texture to be applied to the face as well as to moisturize and nourish the skin. Apply the mask to the face, allowing it to sit for at least 20 minutes or until dry. Remove with lukewarm water and pat dry.
