Weddings are often stressful not only for the bride and groom, but also for people who are closely involved in the wedding. Bridesmaids, groomsmen, parents and close friends typically have responsibilities and duties relating to the wedding for several weeks leading up to the event. The bridal shower is only one of many occasions for speeches. There are several ways to deliver words that will touch the bride-to-be and her guests.

Poetry

Video of the Day

A short poem makes for a nice speech at bridal showers. Poems can be humorous to give the shower a comedic flair, touching to evoke a sentimental feeling or a combination of the two. If you're creative, you might want to write an original poem, or you may find that it's easier to read an appropriate poem that someone else has written.

Short and Sweet

The best speeches are often short and simple in nature. Create a memorable speech by writing down a few ideas to get started. Consider your relationship to the bride and write down five words that come to mind when you think her. You can mention what she means to you and what sort of wife you think she'll be.

What Not to Say

Not all bridal shower speeches are created equally. Consider who will attend the shower and don't forget why you're making the speech -- to honor a woman who is getting married. Don't talk about the past relationships of the bride or groom -- and if older family members are in attendance, don't discuss sexual exploits or other R- or X-rated material. Don't expose any of the bride's secrets or otherwise betray a confidence. Keep the speech family-friendly and simple at all times.

Quotes

If you're having a difficult time finding inspiration when creating a bridal shower speech, turn to a famous quote as a starting point. Choose an inspiring quote that is relevant to love and marriage. Remember to speak the quote sincerely at the beginning of your speech and to cite the original author of the words.
