Formula for the Volume of a Sphere

A sphere is a three-dimensional shape that has no corners. It is perfectly symmetrical and every point on the sphere is the same distance from the central point. Round balls are shaped like spheres. The earth is a spheroid -- it is sphere-like. The North and South Pole are both squashed in a bit.

Volume Formula

  • The formula for finding the volume of a sphere is 4/3 pi radius cubed. Use 3.14 for pi. For example, assume the radius of the sphere is 3 inches. To calculate the volume, use the formula with correct measurements inserted -- 4/3 3.14 27. The volume of this sphere is 113.04 square inches.
