The Build-A-Bear workshop offers birthday parties in all of their stores nationwide, giving guests the opportunity to choose a stuffed animal and dress it up with an endless amount of accessories, clothes, uniforms and shoes. But it's possible to have your own teddy bear making party at home. With a homemade teddy bear party, you can customize everything for your child, and help kids create a lasting keepsake.

    Make-A-Teddy-Bear Party Invitations

  1. Visit your local craft store and get enough die-cut teddy bears for everyone in the party. Then, using scissors or a die-cut machine, cut white adhesive paper into T-shirt shapes. Write the pertinent party information on each T-shirt, but do not stick them onto the bears. In an envelope, place the teddy bear, the T-shirt sticker and a little note that says "Build-an-invitation kit." Getting mail and using stickers are things many kids enjoy.
  2. Teddy Bear Making Activities

  3. If the kids are older, of if you're bear-y optimistic, you can actually have them make their own bears. Use faux fur or even fleece, and cut out a basic bear shape. You can find patterns from online craft vendors, or at your local sewing store. Have them hand-stitch the bears, leaving an opening to stuff them. You can also hot glue the fleece, but it requires a very high temperature and could be difficult to supervise.

Once the bears are assembled, guests can create custom birthday T-shirts for themselves and their bears. Make or purchase the shirts to fit your bear pattern. Have the shirts handy, as well as fabric paints. You may also be able to find little jeans or baseball caps.
  4. Teddy Bear Party Foods

  5. Keebler makes teddy graham crackers. You can serve these in a bowl or use them to give a bear cake texture by pressing them into the frosting, or use them on cupcakes.

Serve a teddy bear tea party with china teacups, a variety of teabag flavors and finger sandwiches.

Have an outdoor teddy bear picnic, and give kids the opportunity to play outside for a while. Serve sandwiches and fresh fruit. Lay out a separate blanket for the bears with play food.
