A dry cough cannot only be painful, it can be irritating to not only you but the people around you. A dry cough always seems to be the worst at nighttime, and can prevent you and your loved ones from getting a good night's sleep. A simple remedy for a dry cough is a cup of tea before bed.
What Kind of Tea
Most types of tea will do the trick when combating a dry cough. A few examples of teas appropriate for a dry cough cure are catnip tea, chrysanthemum tea, citrus peel tea, lemongrass tea, Labrador tea and chamomile tea. Chamomile is often used as a soothing agent for the throat, and is recommended for coughs. If you are drinking tea before bed, make sure it is decaffeinated.
How to Prepare the Tea
You can always warm the tea up and guzzle it down, but if you do you will gain the benefits of all the natural medications in the tea. You will need a lemon and some honey in order to properly soothe that throat enough so the cough will be kept at bay while you sleep. Heat the tea up as you would, either by kettle or microwave. Squeeze a few drops of lemon juice and a tablespoon of honey into your steaming cup of tea. The heat from the water and the acid from the lemon will release the soothing factors of the tea, while the honey coats your throat to stop the coughing.

The flavonoids in the tea are what make it so useful in keeping the body healthier.
