WinZip is a file utility software used to compress and decompress zip files. WinZip also supports other formats of compressed files including, but not limited to, the following: zip, zipx, 7z, rar, bz2, tar, taz.gz, taz, tgz, cab, iso and img. WinZip has an easy-to-use user interface that will open, archive or encrypt compressed files.

    Opening Compressed Files

  1. Zip files are the most common format of compressed file you will see when using a computer. Font files, wav files, applications and images are often packaged in zip files available for download on the Internet because they download quicker and use less bandwidth and file space. You will need WinZip to open these files.
