Apple Juice Liver Cleansing

Cleansing of the liver is said to aid a variety of factors with a person's health including joint stiffness, allergies and a general sense of well-being. The apple juice version of the liver cleanse is said to be easier than the traditional olive oil and lemon juice liver cleanse because the apple juice version does not induce the same amount of nausea felt with the olive oil cleanse.

    1. Background

      • Herbalist Frank Roberts is generally credited with publicizing the olive oil and lemon juice version of the liver cleanse in the 1950s. This version required ingestion of small amounts of olive oil and lemon juice hourly over an 11- to 16-hour period. The apple juice liver cleanse gained popularity because it requires the same amount of oil to be drunk over a two-hour period. The mixture of apple juice, walnut oil and lemon juice removes waste from the liver and gallbladder, eliminating allergies and stiffness and pain in the arms, shoulders and upper back. Many people who complete the apple juice liver cleanse report increased energy and an increased sense of personal well-being.

      The Cleanse

      • The apple juice liver cleanse should be completed on a day when a person does not have to attend work and is likely not to be disturbed. Start the process in the early morning on an empty stomach. A 16-ounce bottle of walnut oil should be run under hot water to thin the consistency of the oil, which does not affect the oil's effectiveness. Four ounces of walnut oil should be mixed with four ounces of organic apple juice. Stir the mixture well and drink. Follow this quickly by drinking four ounces of lemon juice. Repeat this action often over a two-hour period until the 16 ounces of walnut oil have been ingested.

      Effects

      • If the liver cleanse is begun in the early morning, the effects will be felt during the day or in the early evening. A bowel movement with green pellets floating in the toilet or a soft yellow bowel movement will be produced. If no bowel movement is produced, the process should be repeated in the future. The results of the liver cleanse will be improved if, in the next month, a strict vegetarian diet is followed without alcoholic drinks or strong spices.
