- Set up two stations with identical handyman tasks at one end of the playing area. Examples could include building a block structure or completing a task with toy tools. Divide the players into two teams, and line them up at one end of the playing area. Have the first person from each team run down to the handyman station, complete the task and run back to the starting line. Repeat the process with the other members of the teams until each person has had a chance to complete the task.
- Create a Bob the Builder version of Pin the Tail on the Donkey. Hang a poster of Bob the Builder, or draw your own picture of the character. Cut out a hardhat from yellow construction paper. Provide a blindfold for the players, allowing one child at a time to attempt to place the hardhat on Bob the Builder's head. Award a prize to the contestant who is closest.
- Set up a construction zone for the kids with various building activities. Block off the area with yellow construction tape. Designate a block building area with different sizes and shapes of blocks. Fill a kiddie pool with dirt or sand, and provide different sand toys, trucks and scooping toys. Set up a toy tool bench for the kids to use. Provide structured building activities or allow the kids to decide on their own construction projects.
- Plan a building project for the kids, such as a birdhouse or a wooden flower box. Use real wood and nails for older kids, having adults supervise and assist with the tools. Use craft sticks and glue for younger kids. Provide a blueprint for each child that offers the directions on the building project. Assist the kids as needed.
- Provide each party guest with a plastic hardhat. Allow the kids to decorate their hardhats with a variety of craft materials. Items to use for decorations include stickers, paint and glitter glue. Set up the hardhat decoration area, and have the party guests decorate their hardhats throughout the party so the area doesn't become congested.
