Water Cooler Troubleshooting

Water from a water cooler is a simple pleasure during the hot summer months. With temperatures breaking 90 degrees, even seeing the beading sweat at the bottom of a cool water bottle is enough to get the tongue wagging. But sometimes something goes wrong with the water cooler. Common problems include warm water, water not pouring correctly and leaks.

      • If the water from your water cooler is coming out warm, check to make sure the cooler is plugged in. Although it seems simple, it is easy for a pet or child to knock out the cord. If a lot of people have used the cooler recently, the reservoir might not have had enough time to cool the water that is now inside. Wait a few minutes and then check the cooler again. If the warm water continues, check with another appliance to see if the outlet is working.

      Water on the floor

      • If there is water on the floor, make sure the overflow tray is not full. If it is, empty it and see if the problem continues. If it is empty or you have emptied the tray and the pooling continues, check to make sure the water bottle is not leaking or cracked. If the bottles are delivered, the water company often will replace the bottle for free.

      No water

      • If water is not coming out of the tap, check to make sure the bottle is not empty. If it is not empty, an air bubble might be stuck in the reservoir. Lift the bottle briefly to allow some water to flow and then replace the bottle. If water still is not coming out of the tap, try lifting the bottle 2-3 more times. If it continues, remove the bottle to make sure debris is not clogging the drain in the reservoir.
