- Before you take on the main quest line, complete as many side quests as possible. Side quests reward you with training points, which will allow you to improve your strength, learn new special techniques, called Jutsus, and learn new combos. Sparring against Iruka, Sasuke and Kakashi will reward you with training points and help you become familiar with the fighting system.
- Use sprint, operated by the right trigger, sparingly. Sprinting during races or other time-based quests helps greatly when running a straight course, but when making turns it takes Naruto a few feet to make a complete stop. Keep an eye on the radar HUD to see the upcoming racing marker. If there is a turn coming up, release the sprint button to make sure you don't overrun the marker. Moving slower on turns saves more time than missing the marker.
- Spend your training points wisely. When first starting the game, concentrate your training points on Sexy Jutsu, Chakra Concentration and Strength. Use the Sexy Jutsu on villagers with a heart icon and you will be rewarded with training points. Chakra Concentration lets Naruto run up walls and walk on water. This technique is useful for many of the side quests and searching for money. Strength gives you more power and reduces the damage taken when fighting.
- When using Jutsus in combat, make sure the enemy is knocked down. Jutsus take time to charge, and that leaves you open to an attack. Sometimes you can pull off a successful Jutsu when the enemy is at a distance, but usually the enemy will throw a weapon that will cancel the Jutsu. The level of the Jutsu charge depends on how far the enemy is from you. If the enemy is knocked down to the opposite side of the ring, you will have enough time to successfully pull off a level 3 Jutsu. If the enemy is closer, use a level 1 or 2 Jutsu.
