Underarm odor is caused by bacteria that forms under the armpits due to sweating. Many people use deodorant and antiperspirants to fight sweating and underarm odors, and these solutions are often effective. However, if antiperspirants and deodorants don't work for you or you're looking for natural ways to eliminate underarm odor, there are simple remedies that can get rid of it.

    Lemon Juice

  1. Lemon juice is a natural way to help fight underarm odors. Lemon juice is high in citric acid and kills bacteria under the arms that causes sweating and odor. After a shower, apply lemon juice using a paper towel or dry wash cloth and dab the lemon juice along your armpits. Be careful when applying because lemon juice may irritate the skin.
  2. Apple Cider Vinegar

  3. Another natural remedy for getting rid of underarm odors is apple cider vinegar. Apple cider vinegar lowers the pH levels on the skin. Bacteria can't survive and thrive with low pH levels. After a shower, apply apple cider vinegar using a cotton ball by dabbing it along the armpits. Apple cider vinegar doesn't smell very good, so after dabbing it under the arms, apply a little baby powered to cover the smell.
  4. Baking Soda

  5. Baking soda can be used to get rid of underarm odor. Baking soda kills bacteria that forms in the armpits and reduces perspiration. Pour 2 tsps into a bowl and apply under the arms using a clean makeup brush. If you do not have a makeup brush, then use your fingers and pat the baking soda under your armpits. For extra protection, mix a teaspoon of cornstarch to the baking soda and apply in the same manner.
  6. Shave

  7. People that do not shave sweat because of the hair that has grown under the arm. The hair and sweat attract bacteria causing odors to form. Shaving the hair along your armpits helps get rid of the bacteria that has clung to the hairs. Less bacteria means less odor.
