- A house trailer birthday cake is one that is sure to bring a few laughs and, although it may look somewhat elaborate, it is not that difficult to make. Bake the batter in a loaf pan and cut cardboard to match the exact bottom of the cake. Place the cutout on top of two or more wood blocks, as any respectable trailer would be, and "paint" with appropriate colored icing. You may want a two-tone trailer, with a blue bottom half topped by white. Make sure to add more frosting or flat cookies or candies to indicate a door and some windows. Add other trailer decor as desired, also with frosting or candies and other goodies.
- You can shape a cake into either a beer can or bottle and decorate it with icing and lettering to match the recipient's favorite brew. Or you can get even more amusing. Provided the birthday boy or girl is at least of legal drinking age, the cake itself can be beer cans topped with candles. Get a case of beer, in cans, of the birthday person's favorite brand, and 24 medium-size candles. Arrange the beer cans in a shallow box that serves as a tray for this cake, and stick a candle on each beer can. Make the candle stick by gently lighting the bottom of it until the wax starts to melt and you can push it onto the top of the can. The beer cake is most effective if you keep it a surprise from everyone and only bring it out, fully lit, when it's cake time.
- Another easy and very creative way to hook up a redneck birthday cake is to rely on the cake decorations. Any size or shape cake can serve as the base, which can then be iced and decorated with a variety of scenes. Use small, plastic deer and a "Huntun Season" sign with a green background for the hunter. Go for small cars with their wheels ripped off and other debris with a gray or black background to create a redneck yard. Just make sure to prop the toy cars on little sugar cubes to emulate concrete blocks. Decorating the cake to resemble a redneck sign, such as "No Trespassin or Hollerin," is another fun way to jazz up the cake.
