This card idea requires minimal creativity and packs a sweet punch, too. It's an ideal craft for smaller children, since they can actually do most of it by themselves.
Cut out paper hearts that are about 6 inches in length in red or pink paper. Construction paper works best. Use the point of a sharpened pencil to bore two small holes--one near the top and the other near the bottom of the heart--at an interval of about 3 to 4 inches apart. Thread the stick of a lollipop through the two holes so it stays attached to the paper heart. Add a small piece of tape for added security. Write the Valentine's Day greetings on one side of the heart using a felt tip marker. No envelopes are needed for these sweet treats. -
Ask your child's teacher if you can come into the classroom about a week ahead of the Valentine's Day party and take snapshots of each child in the class. Take a good snapshot of your own child, too. Print the photos and as many copies of your own child's photo as there are children in the classroom.
Cut out paper hearts from red or pink construction paper and glue or paste a photo of each child in the class on one side. Write the word "To" next to the photo. On the flip side, paste the photo of your own child and the words, "Happy Valentine's Day from." - Save small boxes throughout the year that are similar in size. (Boxes from bars of soap work well.) Wrap the boxes in wrapping paper decorated with hearts. Fill small plastic zippered bags with candy conversation hearts and zip closed. Place the bags of candy inside the boxes and tape the boxes shut. Make a tag from a red or pink paper heart cut from construction paper. Write Happy Valentine's Day and have your child sign his name.
