- Purchase several packages of ordinary tissue wrapping paper, available in gift wrapping sections of retailers, drugstores, or even dollar stores such as Dollar Tree.
- Dust off the surface; tape corner areas and any other areas you don't want to paint. Fill your paint tray with paint, load your roller, and rub off excess paint. Start at the top left of your wall, and paint a section of the wall that is slightly larger than the size of one sheet of your tissue paper.
- Take a piece of tissue paper and crumple it up, then open it to reveal the wrinkles and lines that will create the texture on your wall. Put it directly onto the area you've just painted. If there's a lump here and there that look too big, smooth them over slightly with a small paint brush, then apply another coat of paint over the tissue paper.
- Repeat the process, moving from left to right until your wall is completely covered. Apply a clear glaze to seal the paint, or mix the glaze with paint of another color, for a contrasting finish. You can create a colored glaze by mixing four parts glaze to one part paint (see "References" below).
