- Bake sales have been a fundraising vehicle for years, but there are many ways to jazz up your sale and make it a little more fun. Recruit friends to participate and you'll have plenty of cupcakes and pies to sell. But encourage your friends to get creative in the kitchen, and don't limit your sale to baked goods. Include other items such as beverages, arts and crafts. Get your children and their friends involved. Ask them to create some original artwork. Frame it, and sell it at the sale. Create a festive atmosphere during the event with live music or a DJ.
- If you and your friends enjoy a good prank and a little lighthearted fun, try the pink flamingo game. Invest in a flock of plastic pink flamingo yard ornaments. You can decorate the flamingos or leave them as they are. For a $25 or $50 donation to the cause, people can "flamingo" their friends' yards. To have the flamingos moved and sent to another yard, the yard owner has to make a donation. For a similar fundraiser at work, instead of pink flamingos, use a stuffed skunk to "skunk" your coworkers' desks.
- Coworkers often join forces as a team to raise money, and there are several ways to get everyone at your workplace involved. Dress-down days are a popular method of fundraising and provide a good incentive for employees to participate. Ask employees to make a $5 donation in exchange for permission to dress down or wear jeans and casual clothes on a designated day. Up the ante by selling a special team Relay for Life t-shirt and encouraging coworkers to wear it on the designated dress-down day. You'll raise money and increase team spirit. Further encourage team-spirit with a company breakfast on the same day. Charge $5 or so for tickets, and your employees will have a chance to socialize for a good cause.
