Costume parties are about having fun and putting a humorous spin on a get-together. So whether you need a funny costume for a Halloween bash or for a costume-themed party any time of the year, grab your favorite jokebook and use your imagination. Here are some tips to get you started.

For the Costume-Phobic

If you are invited to a costume party but dressing up isn't your thing, you can still send your friends into gales of laughter with your "non costume." For example, attend the party in your regular clothing and tell everyone you are dressed as a werewolf for the night's festivities. When people ask what happened to your fangs and fur, simply tell them that you are waiting for a full moon.
Another idea requires a long overcoat. Safety-pin a bunch of watches or fake wallets inside and tell people you are a con man. Or, if you are an attorney, you can wear an old suit and pin a bunch of documents on you and tell people you are a law suit.
Finally, purchase a batch of "Hello, my name is____" stickers and fill them in with a variety of different names. Stick them all over you and tell people that you are having an identity crisis.
Going All Out with Your Costume

For the more daring partygoer, purchase a cheap pig nose from the local party store and wrap yourself in a blanket, then tell everyone you are a pig in a blanket.
Or apply monster makeup to create a ghastly face along with pale skin and hollowed out eyes, as well as a nice scar from a fresh injury oozing blood. Spike your hair and spray it so it looks wild and use old clothes that you can tear in different places, then attend the party as road kill.
Or go to the party as a cereal killer by purchasing a few packs of miniature cereal boxes and gluing them all over your clothing. Grab your makeup kit and fake blood to create wounds throughout your body and near the cereal boxes. Carry a large spoon to make additional "kills."
Funny Costume During Pregnancy

Simply being pregnant makes you want to avoid any and all costume parties, but if you are feeling especially daring and want to show your friends what a funny mom you will be, try going as a bun in the oven. Use a large box with a large hole cut out of the front to wear as your oven, then spray-paint it silver and add knobs to the front. Wear a flesh-colored leotard and paint the "bun" in your belly area.
Another idea is to dress in all black and draw a large white circle around your belly, then adorn it with the number eight to make yourself an eightball.
Other ideas that might raise a few eyebrows include a pregnant nun, pregnant Catholic schoolgirl or pregnant prom queen.
