Remedy for a Dry Nosethumbnail
Nose Isn't Feeling So Good

If your nose is not getting enough moisture, it can become dry and uncomfortable. Sometimes this happens as a result of allergies, but it can also develop from stress. When you are under stress, you tend to breathe differently, which can lead to a dry nose. If you are suffering from a dry nose, there are some things you can do to remedy the situation.

    1. Neti Pot

      • Health stores and pharmacies sell neti pots. These pots are designed to send a salt water solution through your nasal cavaties. This process can bring back some much-needed moisture to your nose. Add lukewarm water to a neti pot and 1 tsp. sea salt; mix together well. Lean your head over the sink, slightly tilted, and pour the liquid into one nostril. The solution will naturally flow out of the opposite nostril. Throughout the process, remember to breathe through your mouth. Repeat the process, beginning with the opposite nostril. Do this twice per day until your nose stays moist on its own.

      Saline Drops

      • Another option is to use saline drops. These are made for both children and adults. Tilt your head back and drip three to four drops of saline into each nostril. This method is very safe and easy. You can apply the saline drops three to four times per day as needed. The saline will provide the moisture that your nose needs to heal itself.

      A Humidifier

      • When you are ready to go to bed at night, set up a humidifier in your bedroom. The machine places moisture into the air as you sleep. When you use the humidifier, shut your bedroom door so that the moisture doesn't escape your bedroom. Use the humidifier every night until you notice improvement.
