Coby DVD Player Instructions

Coby DVD players provide high-quality digital audio and video to your television and home theater stereo system, often at a lower price than other brands' comparable DVD players. Coby makes a number of different models with varying connections and features; connecting and using them is a fairly simple process and can have you enjoying your favorite movies in no time.

Connecting

There are a few different ways to connect a Coby DVD player to a TV and stereo system, depending on the input/outputs available with your equipment. For the highest-quality picture, connect via HDMI if the DVD player has that option and your TV has an HDMI input; the HDMI cable may need to be purchased separately. Otherwise, use component (5-prong--three for video, two for audio), S-Video or composite (3-prong--one for video, two for audio) audio/video cables to connect to the TV. If you also have a home theater stereo system, connect it to the DVD player with a digital coaxial audio cable if your model has that option, or standard stereo audio cables if not.

Operating

Coby DVD players operate primarily the same way as many other brands once you've connected it to the TV, plugged it in and turned it on. Set the TV to the correct channel and input. Before playing a DVD, press the "Setup" button on the remote control to adjust the basic settings. Press the "Open/Close" button, either manually or with the remote control. Put a DVD on the tray and press the button again to close it. Press "Play" or "Enter" once the DVD loads and the main menu appears to play the movie.

Remote Control

Familiarize yourself with the remote control to get the most of your DVD player--change various settings and features if you choose, including the language, subtitles and aspect ratio, with certain models. Fast forward or rewind the picture, or skip to other chapters. Activate the on-screen display to view playback details. Use the arrow keys to move between the various menu options, and press "Enter" to select one.
