DIY: Wedding Program
There are many ways to save money while planning a wedding on a budget. The wedding program is one of those items that can easily be created, ahead of time, by the bride or someone in the wedding party. With a few tips, you'll find it an easy project to complete.

Content
-
The first step in creating a wedding program is to complete the content of the program. Sketch a rough draft on a piece of paper, toying with the different elements of content. The bride and groom's names should be at the top, with the date and the city and state of the ceremony. Every wedding program has the ceremonial proceedings, in order. For example, you would give the title of the wedding song and its author, family seating, the title of the procession song and its author, bride entrance, any readings by the reverend, vows, rings, blessing and final music. If you are having a reception, the wedding program should state the location and address, at the bottom.
Consider some other optional information to be included in the contents of your wedding program. You can include short bios of each person in the wedding party and the names of the parents. You can even include the names of grandparents (living or not), if you like. A thank you to all of the guests for attending is a particularly nice touch. Brief directions for how to get to the reception, under the address, is helpful. If directions are complicated, a separate sheet with a map, tucked in, is appreciated.
Design
-
The front of the wedding program can be any special photo or picture you like. It's always nice if it is a picture of the bride and groom. The initials or names of the couple in gold or silver (or the wedding colors) in script is a nice option. A personal touch of a special quote or saying at the bottom adds flair.
Papers and kits for wedding programs come in a wide assortment of colors and styles (see resources). Your program can be presented in a single sheet, a folded sheet, a scroll tied with a ribbon or in any creative manner. You might even consider making a card with a scrapbook look, using cardstock, rubber stamps and decorative paper.

Presentation
-
There are some different options to use in presenting the wedding program to the guests. Certainly ushers or other members of the wedding party can hand them out as they greet guests at the inside entrance of the ceremonial location. Another option is to fill several large baskets with them and place them at the entrance. With outdoor weddings, the program can be placed directly on each chair. Use a pouch of birdseed (to throw later) on top of it to keep it in place.
