Outlook Express is the scaled-down version of the e-mail package Microsoft Outlook. Outlook Express has many of the features included in Microsoft Outlook, including the ability to add a custom signature to each outgoing e-mail.

    Opening Outlook Express

  1. Open Outlook Express from either your desktop or by clicking "Start" then "All Programs." Locate Outlook Express from the list of programs. The program will open and check for any new messages.
  2. Setting Up The Signature File

  3. Click on "Tools" then "Options." Click on the "Signature" tab located in the upper left corner of the "Options" box. Click "New." Enter the text you want in the "Edit Signature" box. If you already have a prepared text (.txt) file or .html file, click on the button by "File" and then browse to select the file you have already prepared. Click "Apply" after you have entered your signature information or loaded your prepared signature file. Then click "OK." Your signature is now saved for outgoing e-mails.
  4. Sending a Test E-mail Message

  5. Click on the icon "Create Mail" and send a test e-mail to yourself to make sure the signature is what you wanted. If the test e-mail is OK, delete the e-mail and close Outlook Express. If you don't like the signature, repeat the steps to make needed changes then resend a test e-mail.
