- Pillows are extremely easy to create using a hot glue gun. Cut shapes, such as rectangles or circles, out of fabric. Pin together two layers of fabric and cut them at the same time to ensure that the material will match up when they are glued together. Face the right sides of the material together and glue them together except for a 2 to 3-inch opening. Once the glue is dried, turn the fabric right-side out, stuff it with filling and glue together the remaining hole. Decorate the pillow if desired, using puff paint, or hot glue items, such as lace or other fabric.
- Tote bags make a great craft for teens. Cut one square piece from each of two different felt materials. Cut the fabric together to be certain that they are the same size. Glue the material together on three of the four sides and allow the glue to dry. Next, cut additional felt for the handles on the tote bag. The handles should be hot glued on and allowed to dry. Finally, varying shapes, colors and patterns of additional felt can be glued to the front of the bag. A smaller rectangle may also be glued on three sides to the front of the bag in order to create an outside pocket.
- Banners are another hot glue gun craft idea for teens. Have the teens brainstorm designs, patterns or themes they enjoy. They can sketch out their ideas on paper so that they know what they want their banner to look like. Cut poster sized sections of felt and provide scraps of felt in a variety of colors. The teens can cut the scraps so that they form the letters or designs they want on their banners. Have them play with the layout of the felt pieces before gluing them down. Once they have everything just-so, they can use the hot glue gun to glue everything into place. The banners can be secured to the wall using thumb tacks, or by using clothes pins and string.
