Life Stages

In nature, cats do not have a choice of food formulas designed for their life stages. Natural Balance does not provide special formulas for kittens or older cats. Instead, Natural Balance recommends feeding dry food moistened with warm water or canned food to newly weaned kittens. Older cats, who are less active and more prone to weight gain, can be fed a reduced quantity of food to reduce the natural weight gain cats experience as they age. Because eating may be a happy habit for many older cats, a reduced calorie formula is made that is nutritionally balanced.

In addition to its original formula, Natural Balance also offers several other formulas. Because many cats have a grain allergy, Natural Balance offers three hypoallergenic formulas. The first is green pea and duck, the second is green pea and salmon, and the third is green pea and chicken. In addition to these formulas, Natural Balance offers a reduced calorie formula for older adult cats, for whom eating has become a hobby.

Natural Balance pet foods are made entirely with natural ingredients and do not use artificial colors. Color variance in the food is a normal occurrence. In addition to the ingredients usually found in healthy pet foods, Natural Balance includes nutrients that will help ensure your pet's health and longevity, including both omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids. The reduced calorie food reduces calorie intake by lowering the amount of fat in the food, with a very slight reduction in protein content. Other than that, both foods contain similar ingredients. Both the original and reduced calorie formulas contain chicken, salmon and lamb.
Hypoallergenic formulas contain one of the following meats: chicken, salmon or lamb. In addition, peas are used instead of grains to give your pet its necessary nutrition.
