Bath Crayons and Shaving Cream
-
Add a bit of artistic fun to the bathtub. Bath crayons can be purchased in the shampoo section of most grocery stores. Children can create words and drawings on tile and bath surroundings. Use shaving cream to paint and play with while in the tub. Make sure to wash away crayon residue when the bath has ended. Some bath crayons may stain surfaces.
Measuring Cups and Kitchen Fun
-
Children learn by pouring and measuring water. Use a variety of plastic cups, spoons and other kitchen items for little ones to play with in the bathtub. Measuring water may sound simple, but children learn basic science and math skills with this fun bath-time activity. Children will be able to identify which cup holds more water, which items float and which ones sink.

Bubbles in the Bath
-
Blowing bubbles in the bathtub is fun for children because it's OK to get everything wet. To create a bubble mix from scratch, mix 1/2 cup of dishwashing liquid, 2 cups of water and 2 tsp. of sugar.
Take a Look
-
Have a mirror handy as children create wild hairdos out of soapsuds. Have children create pirate beards and mustaches by putting suds on their faces. Have children turn their hair into Mohawks by spiking their hair with water. Grab a camera and take pictures. Show children their wacky hairdos in the mirror when done.
Label Body Parts
-
Teach young children different body parts as they are getting clean. Point out elbows, earlobes and knees so children build strong vocabulary skills. Play a game of Simon Says to make learning body parts fun in the bathtub.
