Embrace your natural texture, even for an updo.
Embrace your natural texture, even for an updo.

Embracing your hair's natural texture is difficult when you have thick, wavy hair. Humidity and heat can make hair frizzy, and blonde hair already isn't prone to loads of shine. Increase it by moisturizing hair regularly with a deep conditioner, and be sure to use a styling cream and shine serum for creating hairstyles to smooth the hair cuticle and leave you with shiny, wavy locks.

    Casual Hairstyles

  1. For every day, let your natural waves be the focus of your hairstyles. A wide barrel curling iron is beneficial because it allows you to smooth waves without making them tighter. Start with the curling iron about 2 or 3 inches from the root and take large sections of hair and wrap them around. After you've done your head, use shine serum to mildly break waves up. Section hair at the back for a half-up, half-down hairstyle. You can secure the top section with a hair clip or barrette. You can also braid both sides of the top section so they gather at the back of the head where you can secure with a hair accessory. When you have thick, wavy hair, never underestimate the style factor of a simple ponytail. Just be sure to use ample shine serum, as it's difficult to see shine in blonde hair of this texture.
  2. Evening Hairstyles

  3. For evening, show off your hair's texture by displaying hair in a long and loose manner. Go over waves with a curling iron and then shake out for movement. Create a deep side part to give the hairstyle a more formal, sensual feel. Clip one side of the hair back with a hair clip or rhinestone bobby pin for a look that is evening-ready, but easy to pull off. You can also try a chignon for a chic evening hairstyle that works well with thick, wavy hair. Part your hair slightly off center, as this will show off any highlights in your hair, as will a center part. Gather hair at the nape of the neck and wrap around, securing with a few bobby pins for a luxe bohemian hairstyle that looks great with any evening look.
  4. Quick Hairstyles

  5. Quick hairstyles involve little or no styling tools or products. Wash and condition hair. Follow up with a styling cream, focusing on the ends of your hair. When hair is dry (you can let it air dry or blow it dry using a diffuser attachment to enhance waves), part hair down the center. Starting about 3 inches from the neck, create a braid on either side of your head. Keep the braids loose and secure at the ends with hair elastics. The look is carefree and perfect for vacation or weekend errands. Best of all, it can be done with wet or dry hair. Another quick hairstyle is to wear hair down accompanied by a headband. This works well with slightly dirty hair that has natural oils built up. Work shine serum through hair and create a side part before putting on your headband. The look is great for work or play, and showcases your waves while still keeping them out of the way.
