Decorations for a Country-Western Theme Party
A country-western themed party is good for just about any season of the year, but it's especially appropriate for fall. During autumn, you can easily get pumpkins and Indian corn, which make for colorful party decorations. Depending on the weather, the party can be held inside or out. If held inside, a garage or barn makes for an appropriate country-western party setting. When holding the party outside, a large area such as a vacant lot, parking lot or back yard works well.

Food
-
If having your western party outside, in the garage or in the barn, consider using bails of hay or straw for additional seating or for arranging food (although take precautions if there is flame nearby, or even smokers). For the creative party thrower, a chuck wagon can be created as a serving station for the food. Toss a red checkered table cloth (at an angle) over the bail if it's being used to hold food. Picnic tables and red checkered tablecloths work well for seating and dining. Serve food in metal pie tins, and use glass mason jars for the beverages. Desserts you serve can double as decoration, with apple pie leading the list. Decorate the tables with bunches of daisies, with mason jars as vases.
Beverages
-
Set up a saloon to serve your beverages, even if alcoholic cocktails aren't being served. Begin with making a large saloon sign, fashioned from cardboard to resemble wood. Hang old lanterns around the area, and add a string of chili lights to the back of the bar. If you can find any wooden barrels, turn them upside down and use them as benches at the bar. Add a spittoon to the saloon, and decorate the walls with wanted signs. Because western "Wanted" signs can be made on a home computer, using a graphics program, feature several party guests on the "Wanted" signs.
Accessories
-
Western background murals can be bought from party stores or online, to hang on the wall. Complete the decorations by strategically placing appropriate western decorations in the area and on the walls. These can include cacti, old cowboy boots, cowboy hats, lassos, sheriff badges, split-rail fencing, horseshoes, saddles, equestrian tact, ropes of barbed wire, wagon wheels. Mexican blankets, guitars and fiddles. Peanut shells or loose straw can be tossed on the floor if the party is held in an area where the flooring is dirt or concrete.
