The shape of the invitation should be an instant giveaway that the party has a rock 'n' roll theme. One invitation shape to use is that of a vinyl record. Buy a package of small, black party plates and draw a series of thin rings around the edges using metallic silver marker. Make labels for the center of the plates which read, "Greatest Hits: Hank's Birthday Party," substituting Hank's name for the guest of honor.
The invitation could also be in the shape of a jukebox. For a jukebox, use a square piece of paper and cut an arch shape at the top. Color it brightly and include the party text in the place where the names of songs would normally be found.
If the guest of honor is a woman, make the invitation in the shape of a poodle skirt. Cut out a piece of pink paper in the shape a triangle with a curvy edge along the bottom. Draw a small leash and add a puff of cotton for the poodle. -

If you would like guests to dress to match the theme, remember to include that in the invitation.
